How to join

Current membership status is  -  Held  -
Sorry we cannot accept any more members
 at this time.

Formalities are kept to an absolute minimum and no confidential information is captured at this time.

Our membership fees consist of a joining fee and a monthly subscription. Some membership types, dealing with larger more specialist assistance, that will necessitate one of trips that cannot be combined, also has some time and cost associated specifically with the project.

You should remember that you should save many times the cost of club membership through being a member and that the larger the projects, potentially the larger the amount we can help you to save. You will also realize that while the clubs membership costs are not cheap, many of the other services and  cost associated with building a house are individually far higher and once you have considered the level of service the club is aiming to provide to you, you will realize that it is very good value for money.

It can seem peculiar to us  that some people will be reluctant to join the club due to the subscription charges  involved and then later we learn that they paid £20,000 or more extra on the plot they eventually got than our members would expect to be paying for the same size in the area, and then they go and spend twice as much again extra on the build and on it goes, and yes, they saved the subscription costs, but what a lot of other costs they have had extra. Some people even realize they are doing this, and we think its because the large figures on a mortgage don't seem like real money to them where writing a cheque to join the club does.  If you think like this, you should look to complete your build via the club route and then re-mortgage so all your cost end up on the then lower mortgage.

Life membership is another option to paying a joining fee and subscription. This involves a single one time payment, and is financially attractive if you feel you are likely to be a member for 8 years or more. Subscription members can upgrade to life members at a later date if they wish. It is likely that many members will stay a member of the club for some years now that services available through other clubs including the Property Pension Club, Holiday Property Club and Property Club International are to be also made available to our members. From June 2005 there is also to be the option to transfer between clubs, without paying any additional joining fee, so that a member can start by building their dream home, next a holiday home, and switch then if they wish to an interest in pension provision and wealth creation through property, selecting the best club to meet their needs at that time, or stay within a club and access other services through co-operative working arrangements. The points programme will also over time be extended to include these other clubs.

For UK members this is currently:-

Membership costs Description Estimated Percentage of the population who could benefit/club Bpts
Bronze Joining Fee  £1,200

Monthly subscription £68

Silver Joining Fee  £2,200

Monthly subscription £99

Executive homes, larger homes, rooms or plots. Built normally on estates, infill, or a small site with one or two properties. May involve replacing another property. Attractive to those who could afford an average home or better but would like a large home, higher rooms, and other features of an executive home at about the same price as a standard home. Probably around a 40% saving on homes of a similar design. Also smaller homes more geographically limited, for example wanting to be in a particular village or small area. 50%+

12pts

Gold Joining Fee  £4,200

Monthly subscription £168

Plus time and expenses specific to the project, beyond what would have been involved in a project involving a standard executive home. This is often extra time spent undertaking work and negotiating with planners so as to get planning consent.

Larger executive homes, and where location becomes more important, perhaps a view, near a river or lake, in landscaped setting. Could be on an estate but more likely to be a single home or one of a pair in a larger plot. May involve knocking down an existing property and replacing, particularly with country settings. The above with around a 40% saving, barn and mill conversions, with variable savings depending on site and style,  plus contemporary homes individually designed and perhaps more difficult to get planning consent for, with often a lower saving. 20%+

Platinum Joining Fee  £8,200

The selection of membership grade relates to the type of opportunities and plots that you will be introduced to. This has nothing to do with how you finish the property or other options that you add, therefore if you see the home you would like as being similar to a standard  executive home in your area but prefer to have a better finish, perhaps a nicer kitchen, bathrooms, power saving, central vacuum, music system and more, then its still an executive home as far as the club classification is concerned.

* If you are completely unsure as to which grade you should join at, then select the lower of the two you feel is appropriate, it will become clear either when working through the initial work books or on the meeting with the consultant, providing that the change of grade is identified and both additional joining fee and subscription difference from the point you joined is paid, you will be able to move from one grade to the next above, up to the point that the consultant has produced your first draft of your specification, without it being considered a later upgrade. Further information on selecting the right membership grade and changing membership grades is shown on the membership types page.

If you have difficulty paying the joining fee or subscription then click here for a few suggestions.

Membership is in accordance to our normal membership conditions, which may be modified over time. You can see the current membership conditions by clicking here, use your browser back arrow or the 'how to join' selection on the left to get back to this page.

If you live in the UK, we ask that you complete the membership application form and post this is to us via the service company we use to undertake all of our administration in the UK, Maximum Coverage Ltd at  Club Services, PO Box 887 Cheltenham GL52 9WY and will maintain subscription information and pass on these details and your application to the club.

If you are outside the UK but interested in developing a UK property you can also send your membership application and subscriptions through this service company, but if you are both outside the UK and you wish to create a home or holiday home also outside the UK you should go to our main international site to see which service company you should contact or contact the club at our main New York Office. The rest of this page applies only to those sending their membership application through the UK service company.

Maximum Coverage Ltd are not agents of the club but have been contracted to carry out administration for the club and you, to make things simpler for you, and also avoid the need for you to have a dollar account, or pay internationally. Services are commissioned by New Atlantis International Service Corporation (NAISC) and they will get a consultant to contact you and arrange all the help the club provides, other parts of the clubs activities are contracted to other service companies. This sounds complex but in reality runs smoothly and is just about transparent to members, and most of your contacts will be through the consultant who is supporting you, giving you a quality personal service. You can pass messages to the club through Maximum Coverage Ltd at any time you wish and they will pass on your requests or questions to the club or the NAISC, who will then either be directly in touch with you or more likely get the relevant commissioned provider to contact you direct.

The joining fee is usually paid by cheque and we prefer the monthly subscription to be by standing order.

The credit card option

We are currently working on alternative arrangements to allow you, should you wish, to pay either the joining fee and or the subscription by credit card, however this can be problematic and is more expensive to do, as it is the service company that has to do this on your behalf, there is a different slightly higher joining fee and subscription for those choosing this method to cover the costs involved. We have not generally implemented it yet as it is slower to join by this method, as we split the joining fee into stage payments so as to avoid limits on online transactions that some credit cards have. If you cannot use a cheque and standing order and feel that the only way for you to join now is to use a credit card then call Club Services on 01242 678988 The eventual pages will have a step by step more systematic approach to cover many options. At the moment, if you can, its far simpler and cheaper for you to use the postal membership route below.

Many credit card companies give you cheques that are used for many uses including balance transfers, these cheques can also be used to pay the joining fee to join this club, and offers another route to join and have the cost on your credit card, without any additional costs to you.
