Local groups section - Introduction

This section of the website is being reorganized, during this process we have reduced the number of pages displayed.

This section used to look at just new areas that we required to find new members in, but we are currently looking at creating sub webs for each area that we have activity going on in. The advantage of this is that we will be able to show far more information that is relevant to an area. These sub webs are to be arranged to run on separate servers, so that they do not draw on server capacity, this also means that we can add photographs and graphics to these sub webs where we have avoided it on the main site to keep it running fast, even when a lot of people are accessing it at the same time.

This section of the main website will then be an index of sub sites for areas and a diary of public presentations and education events throughout the UK.

The new sub webs for local areas should start to become available from February, and then grow in number as the format is proven.

looking for members now.

There are two ways that a group in an area may come into existence. A new member may join from an area we have not previously helped in and we then need to recruit other members in that area in order to create a working sized group, or we may have decided to expand into an area because we have seen a need and feel we can make a difference in the area.

At some point when we first set up a group in an area we will organize public meetings where anyone interested can come to a presentation, at this they will get to find out more about self build, about how the club works and what local groups we are setting up at that time.

The advantage of being the first in an area to become a member is that you have a large influence in the sort of property and group that we first look to establish in your area.

Once an area exists, it is likely that many members will be introduced by existing members so fewer public meetings will be needed to add to the numbers in that area.

This page exists as from time to time we are specifically looking to recruit in a particular area in order to expand the number of people or range of sites we can make use of. However we only list projects on this page when we are specifically running events in the area, not on a routine basis, so not having your area listed or in many cases any areas at all does not mean you cannot become involved, just that no public meetings are currently planned for your area.

Public meetings coming shortly and an idea as to the area we are looking to cover

No meetings announced at this time, we have a break over the Christmas and new year, meetings will start to be scheduled again in January for the following months so please call back and check what is on or ask about areas that interest you.

This website should show a Self Build Homes Club title at the top and content bar down the left. If you have reached this page by some means that has not displayed it properly, for example from a search engine, please click here to load the website properly and show the UK home page and options. If this does not work click here to get to a site map.

Form-mail - a general purpose form, questions, feedback, and other contacts. It is quick to complete and covers most requirements. Pops up in a new window, close the window after use, to get back here.
