Grants from points

Bpoints have no individual value, so the offers can vary in the exchange rate applied.

Bpoints are redeemable in the form of a qualification for grants that do not have to be repaid, but as they can be, should you choose to at a later date, they should not be considered a form of income. It is not a commission nor are you in any way an agent of the club.

Grants are available in US dollars, Euros and UK pounds, only UK pound values are shown currently on this page. Grants come from New Atlantis International Services Corporation, and are funded by them.

All aspects relating to Bpoints are controlled by the rules, although mostly common sense and having no small type or hidden traps, please make sure that you fully understand them. You should note that Bpoints evaporate if not used by a set date as defined in the rules if you do not use them.

Table 2- Grants towards a house or a plot, or for other uses

These grants can be used towards the cost of a house, land, or build costs and other specified use, that was considered appropriate, such as a wedding, educational trip or holiday or towards putting a person through university or college. There is no absolute list, if it is not to be used towards some part of buying or building a home you do need to seek approval for the use before applying for the grant.

Technically they are repayable grants, but there is no set time to pay them, nor will you ever be asked to, so it is up to you if you decide when or if to. As the sums are large we did not want to put you in a position where this might be considered income and therefore you might feel; you should be paying income tax on it. It is not income it is a repayable grant, its just down to you to decide if or when you repay it.

The first stage is to get a certificate for the grant, and this can then be converted to a payment when required. Certificates are valid for 12 months but can be replaced with new ones if submitted within one month of expiring, and your membership is up to date. Consultants have a fast track route to make these payments occur for you within 24 hours, missing out the certificate stage where necessary.

Table 3 - Grants for membership costs in Bpoints

These grants can be used to get a membership grade or pay a subscription or you can join and later claim back the joining fee or subscriptions you have paid, at the current membership grade you are at. So becoming a member initially may be more beneficial in the long run than starting as an affiliate and sharing points with a member.

Like all grants you can decide later, should you choose to, to repay them, but realistically it is unlikely that you would wish to.

The table below involves part payments by Bpoints and part by cash, utilizing the same data as above and allowing a cash element to top up to a different membership type. The amount in cash can be reduced further using some other points from table 7 below.

The table above, not this one, is used if you wish to reclaim membership cost already paid.

Affiliates should note that they can use table 7 to part pay any joining fee with points.

Table 7 - Upgrade and joining fee grant vouchers

The following Grant vouchers can be obtained, by the use of Bpoints and used by affiliates towards the joining fee or associates towards the cost of upgrading from one member type to another. Where you have sufficient points the table above is better for you to use, as the points go further. These must be used for their own membership they are not transferable. Affiliates can transfer some points to the member they are affiliated with, see the rules for details on this. These vouchers can also be used instead of a part of the payment in the tables above, not as a part of a refund request. These Grant Vouchers are valid for 3 months.

If combining several vouchers check the effect of different combinations, generally the higher values use relatively less points.

Table 8 Discretionary grants

We appreciate that some people may have other specific projects in mind, and we welcome the opportunity to consider discretionary grants for these. It might be towards someone's education, university costs, wedding, or some other.

One valid use of discretionary grants is to recover expenses paid to put on promotional events to recruit members. This could involve room hire, advertising, printing costs or other items necessary to put on recruitment events. It may also cover equipment such as video projectors, laptops, public address systems and exhibition boards.

There is no right to claim a discretionary grant, as in the case of our other grants on this page, so the first step is to ask if the subject you have in mind would be considered, and if so what information is required. Any information requested will be to look at the validity of the application not means tested. You will not be asked to provide information on your finances or similar. Table 7 might be a rough guide to the number of points you will need to qualify for discretionary grants.

Details on how to apply for discretionary grants are on the 'using your points now' page.
