This club has two websites registered to allow us to cover self build and possibly renovations in France. These will be at www.Self-build-france.com and www.self-build-france.org and the development of these will follow on from the development of the site for Ireland, so we should start to see information appearing from around the middle of 2005.
France is very near to us in the UK, but uses a different language, currency, has different traditions and rules. Property is cheaper in most areas than in the UK.
To think of France as a single place may be a mistake, different areas have their own character, and different advantages and problems are thrown up from each.
If you know anyone who has undertaken self build in France we would very much like to hear from them, to help us widen the picture we have, and understand the differences they found.
Study group of members
We have a group of members looking at building holiday/retirement homes in France. Becoming a part of this group allows you to share information, combine research trips and pull in specialists to talk to the group. Some may also decide to take part in a group project where we get a project manager to manage the build and who both speaks French and English and is experienced in the French self build industry.
