As an international club, we are not restricted to helping our UK members in the UK only, but can help you to create exciting homes and holiday homes in other places as well.
However before we get carried away with the concept of transferring our knowledge about self build in the UK to other countries, we should consider both the many differences and additional problems to overcome.
Some countries for example the USA and Canada, present few problems, self build is far more common than in the UK, and red tape is less of a problem, plots plentiful in most places and the language not that different to the one you practice. We also have help in place now.
Many of the countries of Europe are conceptually possible, but the procedures and red tape differs, as do practices and standards of work. Of these France or Portugal is not an unreasonable choice. Italy has so much red tape and a planning system that in many places is designed to force you to build and retrospectively apply, paying fines that are in effect a large chunk of local taxes. Of course you will not always get retrospective planning so will then have to knock it down. Spain is best avoided all together, while the current practices and land grab laws exist.

Service provision Like all other services the club provides, this is provided by commissioning service providers. This is not for us as difficult to expand as it would be for others as we have a range of assistance available to us. Part of this is a joint venture agreement we have with Property Club International (PCI), in that we both support each others members and work closely together. As they have the same commissioning structure as we have, this works very smoothly. It means that our members get all the benefits of PCI membership, at no additional cost. As PCI has ambitious plans to grow via franchise arrangements to cover far more of the world rapidly, this will allow many more of our members the opportunity to become involved in a wider range of opportunities. |

We have two other primary service providers we are going to be using initially to support our UK members in overseas property, although over time this will grow, as we'll add more people with specific experience of other counties. H3 Search Ltd will be advising UK members on the USA and Canada, and the Property Pension Club, based in the UK on all other overseas countries.
The Property Pension Club has a wide range of information on property investments in different countries on its web site www.property-pension-club.co.uk As this is another club set up under the New Atlantis philosophy, we can work closely with them and make much of their experience available to you. Membership benefits of Property Pension Club are also most likely to be added shortly to our club. We are working on a joint venture agreement with the Property Pension Club. In order for this to be practical they have to add some new classes of membership to their club, and this we are hoping they will be able to do before long. So although we cannot yet announce the details, we can tell you to watch for information on the range of membership benefits we have being extended.
