I have heard you have a large library, is it available to members
A.
We do have work books, some briefing handouts, forms, standard letters and standard contracts that we do make available to members. We have a programme of developing more of all of these. We also have a build management system also made available to members.
We have chosen not to build a central literature library as suppliers catalogues and prices will change and new versions of books will come out it makes far more sense for you to get what you want when the need arises.
Although the club does not have a library, many of the consultants we use do have large collections or libraries of their own. These collection or libraries, include case histories and notes, books and details from hundreds of suppliers.
Depending on the specialty of the consultant, the information they have will be used in different ways, some use it to be able to solve problems and maintain information on different ways of doing things, others may use it as showcase and allow you to see sub sections of their collection allowing you to identify which catalogues and other information you wish to get.
The consults have collectively, have created a support website that they use. This allows them to identify information, companies and more and also means that they have common filling reference for material for each company they have obtained material from, this means that they can identify other sources and when they need to chat about options know what each is referencing to. The specialist website information is to be made available to members, currently it is still being expanded and checked.
We hope one day to put in place an on demand library of information where we capture digital images of all material and update it when new catalogues come out. This not only requires a lot of expenditure in scanning and updating but also the agreement of suppliers and others as they hold the copyright to the source material.
