Introducing the clubs trade card to members

Once you have got to the stage to start your own build or become a part of a group actively involved in a build you continue to get advantages of club membership, by utilizing the clubs trade card to get materials at trade prices as other builders would, even when sourcing individual finishing items from a  range of outlets. 

Suppliers know that you are a genuine and active self builder or developer not a DIY person looking for a discount. 

In most areas we will have already approached all suppliers you are likely to approach so they are able to educate their staff, prior to when you show your trade card. We have no arrangement for the club to have commissions from any suppliers, but do pass on information where we think it is relevant and where suppliers are able to offer club members specifically good terms.

Each member can be issued with one or two cards allowing partners to both get supplies without the others necessarily being present. 

To get a club trade card you complete a simple request form, that includes your signatures and include passport sized photos, digital photo, or ask our consultant when visiting you to take a digital picture. You can apply as soon as you become a member or later. The trade card is and remains the property of the club and you undertake when you leave the club to return any  trade cards that you hold. 

Your first trade card will be issued to you 6 weeks after applying or before if you are ready to begin buying for your own build or become a part of a build group and it is needed urgently. This issuing delay has been designed in at the request of some suppliers who wished to discourage DIY people and others who might  realize that joining this club, just so as to get the trade card would allow them to save a considerable sum of  money, as most have projects they would wish to work on faster than this.

The trade card is valid for 6 months or 12 months  and issued in the name of one person. It is produced and laminated by us, and includes your photograph and a copy of your signature. Both the photograph and signature image is held by us and printed directly on the cards. A new trade card is issued automatically to you before your current card runs out, as long as your membership is currently up to date. The first 3 cards you have are valid for 6 months each and after this they are valid for 12 months each.

Suppliers looking to market through us.

We do not take commission from anyone, our total income comes from members. This does not mean that you cannot market through us, it just means that instead of paying us a commission and giving members a small discount you can offer our members a larger discount. This you will realize is better for them but also allows you to offer a better deal that should be more effective for you. The club provides members with  trade cards, to allow them to obtain materials and supplies at trade prices. From time to time we also tell members of other offers offered to holders of the clubs trade card. 

If you are approached by a member and shown one of our trade cards you will see it bears both a photograph of them and copy of their signature, the card will have an expiry date that will not be more than 12 months away. If you are unsure if genuine then please contact us and give us the name and address of the member and we can check instantly if the card is valid. You can call  01242 678988 to check validity. The best way to let us know of special deals you can offer our members is to write to us at  Club Services, PO Box 887 Cheltenham GL52 9WY. Suppliers should also take a look at the points programme and in particular how the affiliate scheme works,  as you may be able to use this as a promotional means to both tell your customers about the club, but also to help members of your staff get large grants towards the cost of building their own home. One way to do this is to run it in conjunction with other staff assessments where the best performing member of staff gets all the points for the following month or two.
